History

North Shore Speech and Language Services was established in 1986 by Lorraine Salter, M.S., CCC/SLP. After several years of working in various educational and hospital settings, the desire to provide quality speech and language therapy to individuals coupled with strong family involvement within a smaller caseload became strong. Lorraine specializes in treating children with motor planning disorders (apraxia), developmental articulation disorders, language-learning disabilities and stuttering.

Adults who present with stuttering challenges are also an area of expertise and interest. Lorraine Salter is certified as an Accent Modification Specialist under the training of Dr. Daniel Dato, Georgetown University. Finally, from her previous life of pursuing an acting career, Lorraine has incorporated her passion for working with young people and adults in improving their public speaking and presentation skills.

Testimonials
"Lorraine is exceptional in her craft. We have been to doctors, developmental pediatricians, Early Intervention speech specialists, school and private pathologists since Vincent was 24 months old. I learned more about Apraxia and my son’s current condition in that one evaluation visit with Lorraine, than I did in the entire past few years."
